How it works

  • Make an appointment via phone or email. 

  • Bring along any referral letters from medical practitioners (addressed to Dr Paul Tannous)

  • Bring any relevant results or reports such as psychometric/IQ assessments and developmental assessments. 

  • Any reports from school, speech therapy, occupational therapy, physiotherapist, dietician. 

  • Results of any medical tests. 

  • If possible, please bring your child’s Blue book.

  • Your Medicare card so that we can claim your rebate for you.

The fee for your appointment will vary based on your child’s health needs.

Initial consultation (up to 60 minutes)

 

This includes a comprehensive review of your child’s history and examination, as well as a written treatment plan.

  • Complex, Developmental, Autism, ADHD concerns are allocated a one hour session- please contact reception for price indication

 

**Patients receive a medicare rebate up to $259 depending on the complexity of your child’s needs. Following your consultation we will lodge a Medicare claim on your behalf. If your bank account details are linked to Medicare, your rebate will be deposited directly into your account within five business days.

Our Doctor

Dr. Paul Tannous
Paediatrician
(Adjunct Lecturer, UNDA)

MBBS, M.Med/Surg, B.Pharm, FRACP

Doctor Paul is an Australian born and trained registered medical practitioner. He is also an adjunct lecturer at The University of Notre Dame Australia- School of Medicine. 

He received a Bachelor of Pharmacy from the University of Sydney in 2008, and worked as a pharmacist for 5 years in various locations throughout Sydney. In his day to day work he was required to have a thorough understanding of how medicine works and the potential side effects and complications.

In 2013 he graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from the University of Notre Dame Sydney. In 2015 he was granted a scholarships to further his studies and complete a masters of medicine and surgery. In 2021 he published an Australian study, which was a randomised control trial assessing the safety and effectiveness of high dose vitamin D therapy in children.

From 2015 to 2023 Dr Paul trained as a paediatric doctor at The Children’s Hospital Westmead and Sydney Children’s Hospital Randwick. During this time he has gained experience in a number of subspecialties including:

Our Psychologist

Emily Hudders

Endorsed Clinical Psychologist

(Member of the Australian Psychological Society)

Emily is a fully endorsed Clinical Psychologist and Member of the Australian Psychological Society. Emily specialises in working with children and has over 8 years of experience in working with young people. Emily has a particular interest in working with neurodiverse populations. She has over 8 years of experience working with children and young people with Autism, ADHD, cognitive and learning differences. Since finishing her studies, Emily has also completed extensive Autism assessment training and completes assessment for Autism, cognition, adaptive behaviour, learning (eg. dyslexia, giftedness) and ADHD using gold standard assessment measures.

​

Emily also works with children and young people to improve mental health and coping using an individualised approach adapted to each client’s needs. She draws on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) whilst providing clients practical skills to develop and maintain relationships, solve problems and persevere in the face of adversity. Importantly, Emily collaborates with caregivers extensively, as well as teachers, other health professionals and family members, to meet the needs of her clients.

In a session with Emily, you can expect a safe and calm space to discuss your concerns, and have the chance to laugh, have fun and learn something new.

Our Occupational Therapist

Sonia Wilkinson

BA (Hons) Psychology and Spanish Studies

Sonia is a passionate Occupational Therapist dedicated to working with families to achieve goals that are meaningful to them. She loves forging strong connections with children and their families and takes an attuned and adaptive response to therapy. With a deep respect for a child’s individual differences, Sonia will take the time to understand the child’s unique interests and preferences so that therapy sessions are not only fun and engaging but support the child with their skill development. Sonia takes great pleasure in enabling children to find joy within their occupations and strives to make a difference in their lives.

 

Having worked in paediatrics since 2014, Sonia has gained extensive experience working with children with a range of presentations, including Autism, ADHD, Sensory Processing Disorder, Down’s Syndrome and other neurological/chromosomal disorders or developmental differences. She enjoys working with children of all ages and is a strong advocate for early intervention, believing that all children should have early access to support. Sonia is dedicated to ongoing training and has completed many training programs, including Learn to Play, DIR Floortime (101), SOS Approach to Feeding, M.O.R.E., Exploring Auditory Defensiveness (Therapeutic Listening), Sleepability, SPARK Communication, Astronaut Training, and more. She continually upskills her knowledge to achieve the best outcomes for her families.

 

 

Sonia has a varied skill set supporting children to develop functional skills, including self-care, fine motor, gross motor, play, social and emotional regulation skills. She is particularly passionate in supporting young children to develop their ability to play, engage and interact with others, thereby developing confidence at a young age. She takes a bottom-up approach to therapy and employs evidence-based practices to foster development and enhance daily living skills. 

 

 

Sonia is a mum of three young children, including one neurodiverse child, and therefore understands the dynamics of family life. She will work closely with families and carers or educators in a variety of settings depending on the needs of the child and their family.

 

Sonia gained her qualification in the UK and has worked in both the UK and Australia. She is a registered Occupational Therapist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.

Our Behavioural Therapist

Dianne Verstappen

Experienced behaviour analyst and healthcare leader, passionate about early intervention, digital health transformation, and empowering families.

 

Dianne is a highly experienced Board

Certified Behaviour Analyst with a strong focus on early childhood development. With a passion for helping young children build foundational skills, Dianne specialises in teaching language, play, and social skills to children under six, including those with autism and other developmental differences.

After managing her own business for 20 years, she returns to her roots, where she can make the most difference to individual children and families. She began her career in Early Childhood Education, Teaching, and Physiotherapy, then later specialising in Linguistics and Behaviour Analysis.

With over 25 years of experience working alongside pediatricians, therapists, and educators, Dianne takes a collaborative approach to supporting children and their families. She creates individualised intervention plans that foster communication, engagement, and meaningful social interactions using evidence-based behavioral strategies. Her expertise extends to Positive Behaviour Support, Relational Frame Theory, and fast-tracking a child's development, ensuring that each child can thrive in their own unique way.

Beyond direct intervention, Dianne is dedicated to empowering parents with practical tools and strategies to support their child's growth. By fostering a nurturing and responsive environment, she is dedicated to help families navigate early childhood development with confidence. In her expansive career, she has supported hundreds of families and parents. Together with Kids Doctors Sydney, we are here to help you and your child achieve the outcomes they deserve.
